Unity News September 2007

Well, the ministry is off and running! After an amazing Releasing Ceremony Service on July 29th at Unity Church of Mississauga, followed by a yummy pot luck (is there any other kind?) and a good-bye party the same afternoon, Rev Pat and KC were ready to go.

Her house sold, the movers arrived August 1st, and put all her furniture in storage. The van was packed and Rev Pat took off for 2 weeks of R & R at her daughter's in Ottawa.

On the way, she stopped in at her cousin Stephen's house where she's storing her car while on her Roadtrek adventures. We are SO grateful to Stephen and his wife Susan who have so generously given of their time and energy in support of this ministry and Rev Pat (and KC!). Stephen has spent hours designing and setting up this website. He has also made small thoughtful alternations to the Roadtrek - small things which make a world of difference! Thank you, Stephen and Susan!

Then, on August 17th, Unity Ministry in Motion was officially launched as Rev Pat and KC returned to the GTA. On Sunday, Rev Pat attended Rev Dagmar Mikkila's group that had previously been affiliated with another New Thought denomination which had folded. Rev Dagmar has filed a pioneering proposal for this group with the Canadian Association, and approval is expected shortly. Stay tuned for news!

Rev Pat camped out in Rev Dagmar's driveway for several nights and then spent the following week at Unity on the Mountain in Hamilton, going through the contents of boxes containing documents for the Canadian Association. What treasures were unearthed - the original Letters Patent, Bylaws, Minute books, etc. The most amazing part of the week was the fact that just in the next room in the Sanctuary, Tibetan monks were creating a sand mandala, one grain of sand at a time.

Meditation and chanting made the sorting of the materials in the boxes go quickly and easily, and our archives are now ready for scanning and digital storage.

After this exhausting week, Rev Pat spent the weekend relaxing and visiting with friends at an RV park near Kitchener.

On Sunday she attended a small New Thought study group, stayed at Dagmar's until Wednesday - a great vote of thanks for Dagmar's generosity and hospitality!

Then it was back to the Ottawa area. Labour Day weekend, as she writes this, she is at a cottage in the Eastern Townships of Quebec with her daughter and family. The sun is shining, the lake is shimmering, and KC is snoozing in his newly favourite place, his doggie car seat.

In a few weeks, we'll be going to Barrie to see about forming a group there - hold us all in prayer!!
