Unity News October 2007

Whew! What a month! It's amazing how much the Universe can accomplish in such a short time!

Unity of Durham has been approved by the Canadian Association as a pioneering ministry led by Rev Dagmar. I attended the inaugural Steering Committee meeting on September 23rd and supported the Committee and Rev. Dagmar in making the transition from their former New Thought church to Unity. Rev. Dagmar and her team have a wonderful location all their own, in a plaza in Ajax. No more church-in-a-box, and they are planning Youth Ed ministry already!

So on to Barrie for me and KC! Five interested people met at the home of Jen and Scott Gingrich and formed a Steering Committee to launch Unity of Barrie under the direction of Unity Ministry in Motion. We're applying for approval as a Study Group from the Canadian Association at their next Board of Trustees conference call. We just have to find a suitable location for classes and I have agreed to hold Sunday services first and third Sundays starting in December.

Speaking of which, I realized that I will have to stay in Barrie for a while, perhaps 6-8 months to give them a solid Unity

foundation. So I have bought a modular home in Sandy Cove Acres, a retirement community just south of Barrie, and I will be parking the Roadtrek for the winter. I'll be moving in when I come back from visiting my son and family in Santa Cruz in November.

However, Unity Ministry in Motion will continue to move - yesterday I visited a former LUT in Parry Sound who's been holding informal Unity classes for many years and is wanting to retire. However, our conversation took an inspired turn, her daughter was also there for the visit and we ended up considering the formation of Unity of Georgian Bay! Terry Hare, the former LUT, will see what she can cook up among all her contacts in Parry Sound area - such energy from an 80-year-old, Charles Fillmore would be proud to see! So I may end up driving up to Parry Sound once a week to conduct Unity classes if it works out.

It will seem strange to be in a house after having everything within arm's reach for the past two months, but it will be good to be reunited with my "stuff" even though I've amazed myself at being able to do without watching the opening shows of Boston Legal, Corner Gas and Rick Mercer - guess I can catch them on the reruns next year!
