Unity News November 2009

My goodness, what a lot has transpired in the past year and a half!!

Rev Helen McLeod, a new Unity minister in 2007, moved to Barrie in December 2008 and assumed pioneering the new group as an Emerging Ministry. Their website is www.unitybarrie.org -- go and check them out! Rev. Pat and KC have been extremely busy turning over the Barrie group to Rev Helen and the wonderful group of people there who are passionately committed to having a thriving Unity ministry in Barrie.

They have also been travelling to Parry Sound on Tuesdays to facilitate a class on the Quest -- and they have been self-facilitating for the months when Rev Pat was away (most of the fall of 2009). They are blessed to have Terry Hare, LUT, overseeing the group, and are ably led by several committed students.

Unity Spiritual Centre of Newmarket was birthed in September 2009 -- meeting on Sundays in Newmarket. Check out their webpage: www.unityspiritualcentre.ca! Bev and Brad Watts and Robin and Diana McComb are the able leaders.

Unity of the Okanagan, Kelowna, BC is forming and having Quest classes at the home of Greg and Gail Ruetz.

During the summer of 2008, Rev Pat and KC travelled to New Brunswick, to enrol Unity Truth Students in Moncton area who have started a small study group, Unity of Southern New Brunswick, meeting every Thursday night in Moncton led by the capable mind and heart of Ivale Baniuk.

Rev Pat and KC have also been travelling to Ottawa every 4-6 weeks, as they have asked her to mentor them while they do not have a minister. She provides guidance and support to the Board in making their stewardship decisions. and a leader has emerged -- Roxanne Buckle, who is presently focusing on completing her Personal Development Certificate from Unity Institute and who will then start on the LUT track. A part-time position of Ministry Co-ordinator has been created and Roxanne has been hired to co-ordinate Sunday services, administration, and numerous other tasks as she completes her education. Roxanne brings a wonderful energy and commitment to Unity of Ottawa and has great plans for involving the ministry in the Thriving in Unity programme from the International Association.

Rev. Pat has committed to becoming a Peacemaking/Transition Ministry Consultant with the International Association. She took the inital Peacemaking Skills Training in February 2009, attended the Lombard-Mennonite Mediation Skills training in August 2009, and is assisting with Peacemaking consulting at Ottawa and Windsor in the near future.

Rev Pat is also in the process of becoming a spiritual life coach certified with the Internatonal Coaching Federation by becoming a graduate of the Academy of Coaching Excellence. To this end, at the end of August 2009, she and KC travelled across Canada and down the west coast to Sacramento to attend an Academy course. Then they went to Santa Cruz area for 5 weeks, teaching Lessons in Truth at Unity of Santa Cruz for 5 Wednesdays, speaking, and coaching congregants, returning to Sacramento the end of October for another class. They then travelled back across the lower USA and arrived home the beginning of November. Rev Pat will be flying out to Sacramento in February 2010 to complete her in-person classes, the remainder being on-line courses from the Academy.

During her journey across Canada in August/September, she visited several Unity potential centres and is helping to nurture a group in Kelowna, BC. and is in conversation with people from Pembrooke, Ontario,  Sudbury, Ontario and  Thunder Bay, Ontario.
